No doubt. I’ll pose a question: if we all are so cynical that we can’t allow for a redemption arc, what are we fighting for?

I want us to strive for a ST:TNG reality.

That said, your scenario is more realistic. I am not a tragic optimist; truly, a skeptical pessimistic is a better description. But I will not shut anyone out if they’re honestly contrite.

I don’t know if he is. I’m willing to gamble on it because in this case, we’ve already lost. Whatever the situation, he’s on the right side of the Israeli conundrum. I do think he’s got this country as his priority. Not Israel.

I’m no nationalist; that’s a sick mentality. But I’d rather someone not be Israel first.

I hope I’m not wrong in wanting him to reconcile.

I’m open to that but I will also not be surprised when the first thing he says after this is just the same shit wrapped with a different bow.

When people show you who they are, believe them, and whatnot. And Tucker has truly, consistently, shown that he’s a heinous human being powered by hate.

Yeah, he’s a neonazi who is trying to get ahead of Trump’s inevitable implosion.

He’s still constantly espousing the racist “great replacement” theory, and his political project is to bring more people into the reactionary tent. For now, that means being critical of Israel, but that’s only because he sees which way the wind is blowing.

Don’t trust the snake that already bit you twice.

Let’s watch and see. Thanks for the discourse. We need more of it. This conversation is mega nuanced. (or MAGA nuanced? Ha)

This is not a redemption arc, this is him getting off the sinking ship so he can position himself for a presidential run with even worse policies and ideals. Like he’ll actually have ideals and they will be evil.

If you think this man is anything but an evil white supremacist grifter, then I’ve also got a bridge to sell you.

I’m all for redemption arcs, but it’s not this simple. Nothing this guy has said or done implies that he is anything but further right than Trump and maga. Open your eyes.

If you want a true redemption arc, you need to AT THE VERY LEAST START WITH repenting (in their words so they know what it actually means). Nothing he has done is even close to that.

Tucker had his chance at redemption when Jon Stewart got Crossfire shut down. Instead he stayed away for a couple years and came back worse then ever but without the bow tie.

if we all are so cynical that we can’t allow for a redemption arc, what are we fighting for?

A con artist knowning when to pivot to the next con isn’t anything to do with redemption, it’s just recidivism.

One thing I’m fighting for is rational, fact-based decision-making. Ascribing honorable motives to a person who has never shown a sign of having them is softheaded fantasizing.
