Okay, but it is a job. Yes, we could solve all our plumbing problems together, but is just far more efficient to have dedicated plumbers.
The more interesting question is how to set up a system that, relatively speaking, produces politicians that aren’t as massive assholes. Less shitty systems provide some hints on how to go about it.
Are they more of an asshole than other people? It’s the role that makes the assholeness seen.
In general yes, the kind of people who become politicians don’t tend to be the ones who should become them. However, it is possible to curb the worst excesses.
There are already solutions for every problem. We know what we have to do, we just don’t do it. Nobody can make us do it but us.
That’s… inspiring, but not very helpful. By analogy, crime can be solved by getting together and just not committing any more crimes. While self-evidently true, it is not an actual pathway for solving crime.
Rising awareness is not necessary. The politicians know. That’s why the pond and WH UFC are in the news.
The greater problems, how can society solve them without politicians?
Wouldn’t the kind of person who is involved with organizing solutions to political problems be a politician by definition?
Only if we explicitly dedicate more people. Can’t we solve the problems together, without turning it into a job for somebody?

Why not? Crime is determined by the environment. If society adapts, crime could be massively reduced. No politician needed.
Because it is not a concrete roadmap for those required societal adaptations.
Then it has to be done without a roadmap.
