Vintage watches, pens, physical media (mostly records and blu-rays these days), started getting super into coffee so coffee gear now, probably a lot more I’m forgetting at the moment.
Edit: forgot to add: pottery mugs, kitchen gadgets, whiskey (if that counts), pewter artwork (very slowly, only have 3 pieces right now), I’d like to get more into collecting knives but that’s a bit too much money for me currently.
So you’re collecting collections.
Yeah, that’s fair.
Cds and vinyls, but mainly CDs because are smaller and portable. Electronic music mainly, and then jazz, pop and world/ethnic.
Apparently trauma
Hobbies
I don’t do it anymore but in my teens I had a little drawer full of finger and toe nails. I bit my nails all the time and my nail beds hurt often. I decided to start collecting the nails and I wasn’t gonna collect crap so I stopped biting my nails as much.
The collection is probably still back at my parents house. I am better now at having strong fingernails. I know a good pair of nail clippers is helpful and all but let me tell you that a good 200-something grit sandpaper will make your nails strong.
Godzilla toys - I have hundreds of Godzilla figures I don’t know why but they make me happy.
I have a bunch too, but the collection started by accident.
I lie Godzilla. I like the old movies, I like the new ones. He’s a giant radioactive lizard, what’s not to like? I’m not a superfan, but I enjoy the franchise(s).
I’m supposedly hard to buy for, I think mostly because my interests lie outside the rest of the my family’s to an extent, and tend to be niche or technical in nature, so I get Godzilla swag and toys for Xmas and birthdays. I don’t mind, it’s fun.
Godzilla will never go out for a pack of smokes and not come back.
At least they make you happy.
Knifes glass art and plant drugs
Pirated TV series, specifically those that are finished.
I have a couple hundred keys I’ve found on the street over the years. I also have a collection of old cameras. I have 9 right now, but I’m getting a whole box of them for free in the next few days.
Books, ebooks, ukuleles/guitalele/guitars, knowledge, hobbies, notebooks, fountain pens, ink, tools, knives, bags till I find the perfect one. Not all of them very actively, but I have a few of each of them…
Please share your useless knowledge!
Not op, but I always thought this was fun. For any continuous quantity, (eg temperature, humidity, barometric pressure), there’s always two points on opposite ends (antipodal points) of earth with the exact same value. Its useless because there’s no way to know where these points are, it assumes a perfect sphere, and apparently these quanities aren’t exactly always continuous. Its the Borsuk-Ulam theorem from topology and extends to higher dimensions. It can be proven pretty easily on a circle with basic calculus.
You can grab a cobra by the neck by really slowly pushing it’s head down to the ground. Start high with your hand and remember: no sudden moves.
That’s potentially life saving nice work
Yarn… I have knitting needles, crochet hooks… but hardly ever use them 😂
Hobbies
A fellow SCAdian?
That one popped up on my radar, but I typically tilt toward hobbies which are literally productive.
Minerals! Flourite is my favorite, but I also have an affinity for Great Lakes regional material. Lake Superior agates were my gateway drug.

I knew this would be here
I have slowly been collecting CDs for my music collection. Same goes for my manga and stuffed animal collections. Though, they have all been sloe going, at least they occasionally keep growing.
