True with most things. Although facebook creates shadow profiles for everybody, through websites with the tracking pixels. It allows them to “market” toward people that don’t even have registered FB accounts. Diabolical stuff

I always assumed they scraped people’s phones / address books / contacts to get info on people who never even use Facebook.
Even if all of Lemmy did this, it wouldn’t be noticeable.
