For some reason in English we demand one lie to protect everyone’s feelings.

have you ever…interacted with a german? they are not, in fact, robots.

  They have earned their reputation, good and bad.
  
  Exceptions show nuance, but they don’t undermine this reputation to the point of irrelevance.
