Hi all! I’m really enjoying my time on the Threadiverse so far. I have two things that have confused me, one about the Threadiverse in general and one small thing for Beehaw’s UI.
-
Threadiverse: If I click on a link that lands me on a post directly on another instance, and am therefore not logged in, how can I comment on that post? What’s the quickest way to go from there to my instance’s local copy of that post? (Feature request: It would be great if links generated somehow automatically did this, such that if you click on a link like this from your own instance while logged in, it will take you to the local copy if it exists. I worry that this will be a huge blocker to mass adoption, since it’s really common to link to other posts in your own post / comments.)

When I save a post on Beehaw, where does that live? I’ve been unable to find my saved posts.
The fastest “native” way is to copy the URL of the page on the foreign instance you want to comment on.
Navigate to Beehaw.org/search.
Paste the copied URL into the search text field.
Search for the URL (this will often “timeout” but the search will still happen in the background so give it a bit of time and try again).
Click the result you want to comment on.
Comment like on any other Beehaw post.
This is one of the bigger speed bumps with lemmy, but hopefully apps/web apps eventually get a smarter way to deal with links to other instances more robust than relying on users using markup
I agree that this needs to be more intuitive. It works for me, but is definitely going to be a deterrent to non-techy users.
Great, thank you! That worked.
