If that is so then they are quite successful. Dems supporters are busy on green pond and WH Ufc while core problems like war, genocide, oligarchy, ICE, Epstein files have taken a backseat.
The Press talking a lot about it doesn’t at all deny the possibility that this is a purposeful distraction since any succesful purposeful distraction would require the media to make a circus of it.
Flood The Zone is a real political strategy and it absolutelly relies on the Press picking it up and talking about it instead of whatever they were talking about before, leading to people subconsciously starting treating this new subject as more important and “the thing to be talking about” leading many to amplifying it in social media which is what we’ve seen here in Lemmy for the past 2 days.
(This probably stands out a lot for those of us here who are not in the US because the press elsewhere doesn’t at all talk about it, so the massive number of posts about a fucking pool in Washington in Lemmy just look like a sudden flood under blue skies with not a drop of rain, so with no actual reason, thus it feels made up rather than natural)
What the previous poster wrote and what you wrote about the attention that the media is giving this subject aren’t at all inconsistent with each other.
