          Too late for that. Their crimes are enough to send all of them to prison for the rest of their lives at this point. Most of them are at least halfway through already as is.

          They could stop commiting crimes right now… I don’t think their option tree would expand.

        Which is part of the reason Nixon got an out. I know that’s what everyone blames for our current predicament, but I don’t think it’s so simple.

        The point of all that is that it was a negotiation, both for him and for future incidents. Give up the power that you’ve abused and we won’t pursue you in your personal life. It wasn’t a small ask, but it did prevent Nixon from getting too desperate and attempting to use the power of the Presidency in a Trump-like manner.

        These guys though, the current crop of Republicans have gone much rather than any previous crimes. I expect there are even worse things than Iran-Contra that we don’t even know about yet. Not to mention all the domestic crimes we do know about, the ones we have (barely) prevented so far, and the very likely foreign crimes like the kickback on the $300b to Iran.
