I agree with you that the onboarding process is complicated for a user that doesn’t want to invest time into learning how the fediverse works.

I think that is a positive thing.

The good thing about the Fediverse is that it isn’t profit driven, it isn’t necessary to grow without end, and because of this it also isn’t necessary to appeal to the mass of users who don’t want to learn how things work here. It’s a filter, weeding out the people who aren’t open to new structures - that often comes paired with the inability to have open minded discussions.

I do agree with you regarding the missing transfer options, but since karma isn’t a thing here, a simple import/export function for subscribed communities and blocked items should suffice, and shouldn’t be too hard to implement.

I wanted to swap to Pop!OS a few months ago, but since i’m an Nvidia user, I am waiting until Wayland plays nice with Nvidias drivers regarding explicit sync and everything gets rolled into Pop!OS.

I always was a Windows user because games, but with ProtonGE the “games” argument started falling flat, and MS is getting more and more intrusive. I do like VRR and Multimonitor setups tho, so X seemed like a poor choice, and Wayland/Nvidia is just not ready yet.

i agree, my eyes are pretty good, but this is not useable. funnily enough my chosen lemmy frontend (alexandrite) would fix the colors, but its too small to read; and when you open the image in a new tab to zoom in, the colors are unuseable.

My Win10 PC with just my default apps open, which is mainly Firefox, Steam, a few other Launchers, Obsidian and Messaging clients - 8GB definitly doesn’t cut it today anymore. Running a newer game smashes the 16GB border easily.

sorry, but my empathy for those people is zero after the last few years. toddlers tantrum over masks, ignoring social distancing while partying, protesting against lockdowns while the ICUs were overfilled, spreading bullshit on social media about the vaccine and calling people nazis over the idea that mandated vaccination might be smart - i will call them morons over and over again, regardless of nationality, and will cite studys like the OP whenever someone asks why. i’ve been called worse for masking up when it wasn’t required, our little snowflakes will have to endure it.
