I think it’s more important than ever. Software is getting slower and slower, and the bloat is ridiculous. Imho this is because we just work with abstractions over abstracions ignorant to how it will be computed on a real machine. I think a more appropriate methapor would be, that you can speak and understand language (program) while being illiterate at the same time (not having a fundamental understanding on how a computer works). Of course this is a exaggeration, you don’t need to know about these stuff to be a adequate programmer I think.

Honestly, the new licensing model for Oracle JDK was known for so, so long, and every company had every chance to use an open alternative. Actually I think Oracle has been pretty lenient with it’s grace period, so I don’t feel sorry for the companies held accountable over this

Such hateful ideas are a symptom which can have wast variety of root cause. Your example is quite extreme and I agree it rightfully warrants hatred, but I’d argue that it’s all the more reason to not dismiss a person. We should seek connection with and understand these people and prevent destructive ideas from spreading IMHO, because there will be others who also won’t dismiss the person - only difference is that they might be receptive for hateful ideas. Sorry if I came across supporting these ideas, this is not the case.

We as a society should stop punishing people for insignificant crimes against big corpos. This sentence sounds something out of a dystopia. Really, even if there is supposedly 5 million USD in damages, are there any proof that anyone working at Rockstar games will feel the impact as a person? It is such a huge company I bet they wouldn’t even feel it. Maybe there needs to be some cost cutting here and there, or maybe some people will lose some jobs? But neither warrants lifelong confinement - this is something you might get if you ruin someones life forever.

I don’t doubt the guy had good intentions at first, my theory is that greed got to him as the money started to pour in. What would have been the end goal if nobody ever notices? Can you even hide this kind of money from authorities as a charity organization?

However, I think he still can salvage the situation and his some of his reputation if he owns up to his mistakes and donates all of the money now.

Never understood this argument, it’s the person’s responsibility who changed the code to update the comments if needed. Otherwise they just implicitly admit that they did not read it or understand the context, or just plain did not care.

It makes sense for me in third person games. Imagine a stick stuck in the protagonist head from behind. You are the camera behind the character, imagine you grabbing the stick and rotating the head with that. You have to pull the stick down for the character to look up, and push it upwards to look down. By the same logic, you have to move it left for the character to look right, and vice versa. The stick is the analog stick on the gamepad.

Once you get used to this control scheme, it’s quite hard to re-learn non-inverted controls.

Yes! To add to this, please let me invert the analog stick camera controls. Both axis! My biggest pet peeve is when a game let’s you invert the Y axis, but not the X… Why? You were so close dammit how much effort is adding the other really?

You can use without plugins as well, they are not a must. I’ve been using Obsidian for years just for it’s inter-connected markdown references. Kind of like a wiki, I’m just taking markdown notes and sometimes create a link to another related note. Also, good at handling attachments and embeds. I haven’t used anything else (maybe tags nowadays… But that’s it) Thing is, if you like markdown then you should give it a go.

I’ve tried, and on the mobile site there’s no way to access Messenger. Only workaround is if you force the desktop version on messenger.com but it is very inconvenient.

+1 for Mark of the Ninja. The gameplay is so polished, great art direction, and simple but satisfying. It is a staple Klei Entertainment game. Not to mention the good story, at least as I remember. It’s not a new game, released originally in 2012, however there’s a remastered version on Steam.

Did you use this specific controller? It is actually a beast, very high quality and durable. I’ve used a Logitech Rumblepad 2for almost a decade. The only issue I had with it is that it did not support xinput, only direct input, so a lot of games do not support it anymore. But still works like a charm.

However I won’t trust my life on it.

Thank you for your response, makes sense. Hmmm. On one hand, I agree with the developers in that they have to develop features that the foundation requires. They have full time employment contract with them.

They have to prioritize tasks and features using a whole different set of variables than what the users deem important.

I think both groups intentions are understandable. But I think this just highlights the importance and the need of open source contribution. We need more volunteers to implement features desired by the community.

So, do you think we need to step up to the developers to implement captcha or give way to the community and support a fork with better anty-spam measures?

To be honest, your post doesn’t really explain the current situation and impact It’s a call to arms, but I have no idea how important it impactful it is.

I do agree with the author that Stardew Valley can be stressful. A day is too short, and you want to cream in as much as you can. We play coop together with my girlfriend and we still feel overwhelmed sometimes.

But I do admit, this just might be because of our playstyles. We actually enjoy chaotically cramming in everything in one day, and we have roles and usual chores assigned. She usually grinds the mines and takes care of animals, I take care of the crops and community house stuff.

We didn’t even touch NPC interaction yet, might be missing a lot!

All I’m saying is, I never got the laid-back, slow, relaxed feeling from Stardew. Yes, it’s serene and peaceful in theme, but it’s as fast-paced as you want it to be. It really respects your time I think.
