Yes, I worry about many of those same things, and I’m sure we both worry about much more than that. There is still plenty of room for more artistry in the products we buy. However, companies would rather report 3.01 EPS and have happy shareholders and less happy customers than 2.98 EPS and unhappy shareholders and happy customers, because they didn’t want to spend a few extra pennies here and there.

Because they didn’t have shareholders that needed to steal the value from every aspect of life. People could take time to craft things. They were craftsmen.
