Hello! I drink water.
I am SO happy this game is getting made. I loved Astro’s Playroom so much.

Except that one time. We don’t talk about that one time 😰
(For real though I’m glad they put so much thought into the UX with accents, this is an awesome addition to the DE)
I tried that but flatpack apps kept using the Gnome file picker anyway, there were some flags for some of them to change it but having to do that for each app felt like too much of a pain ^^;
Tbh there’s been a known issue for like 10+ years where the file picker doesn’t allow for gallery/thumbnail viewing, or really any kind of file list viewing options aside from the absolute basic file list. So like if you’re someone who is uploading images to a website, hope ya named the files in a very specific way cause wooooh. XD
Above anything else, that was the primary reason I switched to KDE Plasma.

Apparently this did actually get fixed somewhat recently but my distro doesn’t seem to have the fix yet so 🤷
But that file picker though
I’m not gonna say this is karma biting him in the ass for disallowing the Sonic Xtreme devs use of the Nights engine, but I am gonna say that thinking about that gives me a very nice sense of Schadenfreude.
Gotta say, I appreciate the level of commitment. That bit at the end probably wouldn’t have worked if he didn’t have a baby for the video. Very few YouTubers who are that dedicated to their videos that they do that.
Ooof, I remember all too well. I don’t see myself being hyped for Fallout 5.
Oddly enough, the thing that got me back into gaming after like a 7 year slump was Astro’s Playroom on the PS5. It’s a free pack-in title that literally functions as a tech demo, and yet it’s one of the tightest, most fun 3D platformers I’ve ever played. It’s a fairly short game but the collectables are SO cool- pieces of a mural celebrating PS history and various pieces of hardware from gaming history as big model statues. It felt really rewarding to complete the history museum and the levels were honestly a blast. I also love the cleverness behind one of the boss choices but I won’t say much else.
But also, I’m a pretty big fan of history and archival so it kind of hit that for me ^^; But legit the game is super nice and made me realise that I was just playing a lot of padded, long, rushed games- and this was anything but.
I’ve never been to a naming convention but I have been to some comic conventions!
