I’ve noticed that there seems to be an emphasis on being extremely serious at all times, as if every single comment is a PhD dissertation being evaluated or something. There’s like this weird, subtle one upmanship about every little thing and a lot of people are very nitpicky and judgmental. It kind of takes the fun out of being on here, TBH. Or am I the only one experiencing this?

I also hate the slop, but the AI hate can go too far, and extend to areas where it’s not deserved. To be clear, yes, you’re absolutely in your rights to not like any of it at all.

It’s my opinion that, while it’s totally ok to be skeptical and hold strong opinions, it’s not cool to spread FUD about something you don’t really understand. It’s even worse to do it solely because you see others doing it. I get that there’s an urge to belong, and be on the right side of things, I do. But come on. If you’re going to protest something, be thoughtful, be willing to investigate, and be willing to admit that it’s possible for this enormously large, complex new thing to contain multitudes and be the mother of all mixed bags, and will have good and bad things coming out of it. Your position will be much stronger.

Its a neat tool in its own respect, I was initially mildly impressed by them. Its being sold like magic beans though, which is why its so hard to understand what is actually going on with them. The very real effects on the economy, the power grid, and the environment all speak for themselves. It’s just gone completely manic in a way that I feel justifies the FUD.
