Democratic Congress members who visited detention center with mayor say ICE officials ‘created the chaos’

Trump administration homeland security officials were responsible for starting the confrontation on Friday at a New Jersey immigration jail that led to the arrest of Newark’s mayor as well as threats to detain three members of Congress, the representatives said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.

The Democratic Congress members Bonnie Watson Coleman, LaMonica McIver and Rob Menendez – all of New Jersey – visited the controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center known as Delaney Hall on Friday to inspect the facility. As they waited to enter Delaney Hall, Newark’s mayor Ras Baraka arrived – and as he left the property, he was arrested outside by Ice officials accusing him of trespassing, leading to a commotion at the entrance of the jail.

        Martial Law will happen after the constitution gets suspended. Then Trump will crown himself and declare: no more elections.

        Within a week after that, he will be replaced by another p2025 puppet or removed.

    So Baraka was just doing his job with 3 Congress members for oversight, and they arrest them outside the gate? And now DHS is throwing around threats for more arrests? That’s not law enforcement, that’s straight up retaliation. Newark’s already suing this place for operating illegally, and this is how ICE responds? By going after the officials trying to hold them accountable? Come on. At least Murphy, Platkin, and Kim are calling this out for what it is. The state literally banned these private jails, and shit like this is exactly why.

      It’s no downside to them. Either (a) officials do nothing in response, which tells them they can do this again the future, or (b) the officials challenge the illegal arrest, giving the DOJ an opportunity to expand powers by creating court precedent via immunity arguments.

      If in the off-chance, © the court rules against them, it makes no difference since they’ll ignore the order.
