I’ll be watching this one but I’m not planning on backing. Time will tell if Nintendo lets this see the light of day.

there’s been plenty of pokemon clones. palworld just offended them because of how close they look like pokemon and then they sued over the capture bs or whatever.

Funniest thing is those patents were filed after Palworld’s release. Nintendo really has no leg to stand on.

EDIT: Also, Pokemon itself was released after Shin Megami Tensei. It’s important to realize that while Pokemon may have perfected the monster collecting genre (for a time - I’m looking at you, Scarlet/Violet…) they were certainly not its progenitor and never have been the only player in the field.

          Honestly.

The biggest threat to Nintendo is no one but Nintendo.

because Nintendo has done more harm to their brand in the past 20 years with their cockheaded fucking behavior than any vaguely inspired game, knockoff, or anything else.

between their bullshit where they would file DCMAs against people who streamed nintendo games unless they gave half the money to nintendo

to their bullshit overuse of lawyers to the point they ended up DMCAing themselves over some people getting hold of…tears of the kingdom? i think it was, a day or two early.

And lets not forget just how shit and phoned in their core titles like pokemon have become.

What got palworld into Nintendo’s crosshairs is their partnership with Sony.

Other Pokemon-likes are safe from Nintendo because they’re not a threat to their IP.

Weeoo, no need for the alarmism. There’s literally nothing in that trailer that suggests that Nintendo could take any action against the developer.
