When Elon Musk calls to imprison the government, it turns out not to matter very much. But when thousands of accounts repeat each other, it matters enormously.
Maybe I have misunderstood what the point of the article is but… What a giant load of horse shit.
If anything it just proves that the CENTRALIZED social network is the problem. X/Twitter amplifies what Musk wants and since it’s so big and influential (also because of Musk’s financial situation) it contaminates the perception of reality in all other mainstream social media.
I fail to see how this is an example that decentralized social networks such as the ones from Fediverse could make things worse.
In a roundabout way the author says that the structure of the platform informs the structure of the discourse, the opinions, the information that is surfaced and the one that is invizibilized. It’s important to remember that a decentralized network doesn’t mean neutrality, there will be something put in front. It’s not the same as what a capitalist wants, and that’s good
