On Monday, the US Supreme Court decided in Trump v. Slaughter that the US Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) may not be independent anymore. Since 2000, the EU has relied on the “independent” FTC as the enforcer of EU-US deals on personal data. According to EU treaty law, such oversight must be independent. In the current EU-US deal, the European Commission relies on the independent FTC 259 (!) times.

Oh? Tell me about your country then.

There have always been issues. There was a lot of precursor to this. But there has never been anything this bad.

America was a beacon for the world, despite our violations and blemishes. Relative to the rest of history, we were leading the world ina better direction,.

Nixon was out after Watergate. You don’t have to bribe our doctors or our cops during traffic stops. While we’re having issues with LGBTQ, we were a leader in treating people with respect for a few decades. That’s our norm.

      This is Idiocracy.

Woah guys, we got someone who fell hard for the propaganda.

The US spread fascism around the world in the form of the most destructive industry man ever invented the military industrial complex. The US has only been without conflict for a very short time in all its history.

We have committed and assisted in multiple genocides and our destruction to the environment through our proliferation of polluting technology has poisoned every single human on the planet. By my estimates we have lost close to a billion people from pollution in the last 50 years.

While I will admit the current administration of outright thieves is shocking, this type of back room dealing had always been a part of our extremely corrupt nation.

Most of what you praise is literally propaganda and very little can be attributed to reality. Sure the US has had more decorum in the past, but that ain’t saying much.

Treating people with respect, but also letting people die because they can’t afford medicine or health care. Intelligence services selling cocaine and drugging their own citizens with LSD. Privatized prisons. Invading countries for their oil. Overthrowing democratically elected governments and fucking up regions all over the world.

        Yeah sure

not haveing universal healthcare while bad is nothing like the crazyness of trump. As for the rest. Pia Vesta. Operation Condor. Private prisons showed up during reagan and is part of the downward spiral that got us to current and same with invading oil rich countries. Proxy shenanigans are also very prevelant outside of the us. So what im saying is the things you list in some cases are just common in the world not just the us and in other case were fought against and is part of what lead to trump. This is different mainly because the constitution is just being flaughted outright rather than being chipped at and scotus is not defending the constitution and half of congress is derelict in their duty to impeach him for flagrantly breaking the laws of the nation.

Obviously nothing comes close to what is happening in the US right now, and I do hope it’s not to late to turn things around.
