Not defending Epic’s or Sweeney’s weird actions or takes as of late, but this article feels like it’s written by someone who seemingly only glances hyperbolic headlines.
The solutions do exists, but they’re not sustainable by any means. The article mentions Discord as a solution to the social problem of gaming, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that a for profit organization having exclusive control over the solution is not sustainable in any means (see enshitification of Discord recently). Yes Epic Games is a for profit organization, but these solutions they are offering are open source (most MIT licensed codebases).
Saying that a solution already exists for a problem and pointing at a closed source product from a for profit enshitified corporation while ignoring the part of the problem is that the solution isn’t sustainable due to not being open source is just poor journalism.
Again, I’m not defending Epic Games or Tim Sweeney in general, but let’s not spin or twist words here or omit some key details to serve some agenda or hate campaign.
Lol the writer has no idea what they’re talking about.
This guy is a hypocrite and an idiot.
You still get flash banged when grabbing the free games on epic. He has never really updated or improved that shit hole.
Can relate - I’m kind of a DIY guy myself.
