I haven’t been watching much in terms of actual shows for a good while, then while listening to a podcast a host casually mentioned they had rewatched Chernobyl, how it still holds up, that there’s a reason it got as much acclaim as it did, etc. So I thought I’d give it a go and wow, loved it (still one episode left to watch).

Had me thinking, what else have I missed out on? What are some “absolute cinema” TV shows that still hold up and and are considered must watch?

Lost, Futurama (original run), King of the Hill, The Simpsons (seasons 2 through some of 8), Task, The Wire, True Detective (except the Vince Vaughn season), Community (through Season 3), Pluribus, Severance, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Bob’s Burgers, Taskmaster UK, Clarkson’s Farm (im only into Season 4 right now), original Twilight Zone, Broadchurch was good, and my favorite TV show is Alone (Season 12 sucked butt). MASH (every season no matter what the haters say).

If you liked Lost I would like to recommend From. Similar mystery thriller, leans more into the horror mystery than the sci fi mystery. Final episode of S4 is about to air and they’re making S5 already

As I said in another comment, From is only hampered by its acting, directing, writing and theme song. I’m halfway through Season 4 right now. It’s not great (i wouldnt even describe it as good), but it breaks up the monotony of existence well enough. I see the comparisons to Lost. Plus, ya know, Michael.

Had to scroll so low to find Lost mentioned.

Was watching since 1st episode. Finished last seasons last episode and was highly disappointed on how it ended.

Fast forward to 2024, turns out my wife never watched it. We did binge and both of us couldn’t stop. Even if I had seen it, I was on the edge of sofa.

It did answer all the questions. My guess is that the “unanswered questions” was due to how much time has happened between airing of seasons and episodes so watchers had forgot a lot of information. Binging solves this.

      Show is a masterpiece. Period.

I also watched it when it aired, and I too was disappointed by the last season. Ive rewatched the series more than once. I wouldnt say masterpiece, but its pretty great despite its flaws.
