I’ll try to summarize.

Germany’s highest court can ban parties that want to dismantle democracy. But that process can only be initiated by the federal government, the federal parliament or a majority of the state parliaments. NOT by the court itself.

Before the election, there was a group of MPs spanning over almost all parties who advocated to initiate said process, but they couldn’t form a majority. Other MPs and the government had argued to wait for the report that just now came out and confirmed AfD to be enemies of the democratic order.

So now they don’t have any excuses, really. They are morally, but not legally, obligated to ask the court to ban AfD. Said court has signalled in the past that they have enough evidence and that they are eager to start. Whether or not it will happen is not clear, but it has never been more likely.

I agree that coal is important to phase out, even moreso than nuclear power. Germany was wrong to leave nuclear before coal.
But building new reactors is an utter waste of time and money.

I can say that because we neither have the time nor the money to sink it into nuclear plants. We have green tech. It’s cheap, we’re building capacity like crazy.

Even China builds more renewable than nuclear. And I’d rather not look at authoritarian dictatorships for tips on how to handle building regulations.

Power to gas, water pumps, heat storage and battery storage are viable alternatives. There are many days already where we over produce green energy. Why sink hundreds of billions into nuclear plants when we could use the energy we already produce instead?

No. Take a good look at France and their nuclear strategy. Both maintaining old reactors and building new ones is extremely costly. Building times are to be measured in decades. Nuclear power is not economically viable nor is it a solution to the climate catastrophe.

Returning to nuclear power in Germany is nothing but a pointless waste of tax money.

I work in IT (almost exclusively Windows) and have been using Linux on my private machines for 8 years now. I barely know anything about the command line. I don’t have to be a Linux nerd because it just works with the GUI. (KDE Plasma. Can’t speak for other DEs)

Home assistant is great and apart from voice recognition, its infinitely more powerful than any corporate home automation product. Voice is tough to do locally and on low powered hardware, but its getting there.
