Make a file named just a bunch of spaces with double quotes around them. It’s made confusing because of the 4 double quotes, two are escaped by the backslashes immediately before them.
You are on the path to be that family member or friend for someone else. Welcome.

Yeah, I’m not installing DRM to watch anything on any service. I’ll pirate, thanks very much.

This information is good, but overwhelming for newbies. This is what I tell people interesting in using Linux:
Start with Linux Mint. If you decide later on that you want to delve deeper, check out distrowatch for a good list of distros with descriptions.
I would have to say that it is not getting worse, its just never been very good.
I’m interested in new distributions, but it really needs to do something new. Different default packages with a handful of custom things on top of an existing distro just doesn’t cut it. Give me a NixOS, Puppy Linux, ReactOS(I know it’s not a distro) or something else unique. I’m tired of Debian/Ubuntu based distros, if I wanted Debian or Ubuntu, I would use them.
Hmm. The McDonalds in my town had a small fire in the kitchen in 2020. It has been surrounded by “Reopening soon” signs since then. Color me sceptical.
NixOS and Debian. Probably just NixOS in the near future.
I use system packages for everything unless I need a newer version of a specific package for some reason.
Why yes, please add a ton of unnecessary weight and bugs to my terminal.
So, this question comes from someone with no background in development or marketing but, wouldn’t this money be better spent on develoment or marketing of Firefox. I’m a little more worried about having a long term alternative to Chrome based browsers than self hosting photos. This is not a knock on Ente or any other photo hosting script, I am very interested in a fully functional self hosted Google photos alternative, but my priorities start with Firefox.
