  • I used to work at KFC and it was someone’s job every day to sort through the ‘on the bone’ chicken (stuff you get in buckets) to throw out broken bones, giblets, feathers etc.

Firstly, only this kind of chicken came from the UK. The rest is from mainland Europe before being marinated and shipped, which seemed unnecessarily inefficient.

Secondly, good god is the state of the chicken you get horrifying. I kid you not it set me towards becoming vegan. But compared to the chicken you get in a supermarket (say, an Asdas roast chicken) it is scrawny, frail, and so easily broken and poorly cleaned. The breading and frying process makes it look way more “full”.

Between farmers and businesses these birds are a source of untold horror AND a vector of our next potential pandemic, whether it be H5N1 or something else. Not even before we consider the totally unsustainable nature of farming poultry both ecologically and economically.

  • People wonder why antisemitism is increasing exponentially and this post is a prime example of it: someone who I can probably guess is an American, probably secular or Christian, yet telling me that the state of Israel is actually just “Jews”. It’s blood libel to claim that the Jewish faith alone is responsible for acts of terror against civilians (because guess what, these pagers were imported for EVERYONE who makes use of pagers, including countless medical staff).

I won’t engage with antisemites like you, there is no saving anyone who has seen the last year (let alone 75 years) of unrelenting terror from Israel and the US, only to blame it on Jewish people who the majority of which have always lived outside of Israel. The Zionist project is a Christian and American project, and has turned the image of Judaism into one of hatred and slaughter on their behalf.

  • Disregarding the parent comment, but hosting a soft fork is easy enough but it’ll quickly become a spaghetti mess of local patches that conflict with upstream changes. It’s not like there’s an argument for preserving access to Russia either since the nature of the kernel being hosted across torrent trackers makes it impossible to deny Linux to any one country.

It seems like the better solution (imo) is to work on a different kernel receptive of these maintainers, so that the companies employing them can still have a kernel that is developed for their use-cases whilst supporting projects that don’t so openly collaborate with hostile states.
