I’m surprised there isn’t more of a general legalization push in the UK, I guess it’s in part because nobody actually cares.
I smell weed pretty much every time I leave the house. The police don’t seem to give a shit, and I see people smoking it outside all the time.
denied that she acted improperly and rejected calls for a formal explanation of her decision.
wtf 😂
How can you pardon a child rapist and then just decline to give a proper reason…
At the end of the day they need to win the election.
At this point I’d 100% take a shitty labour government that’s compromising, because it’s the first step to moving things back to the left.
If we had a better voting system then go for it, but I just think it’s silly for someone to waste a vote (if they aren’t in a safe seat).
True, if it’s wasteful then move away from it, but then again maybe there does need to be intervention to maintain bear population anyway.
I’d like the monarchy abolished as well tbh, but their hats are towards the bottom of the list of reasons why.
That’s also not gonna be Stephen Fry’s point, as good as he can be about some issues he’s also a known monarchist.
“Tradition is never an excuse for cruelty,” says Mr Fry, who is narrating a video which shows undercover film of how black bears are killed.
A supporter of the animal welfare group made an undercover video which claims to show hunters putting down buckets of strongly-scented food as bait, and then shooting black bears with crossbow bolts when they approach.
This doesn’t exactly seem like a revelation to me, and I don’t know why you’d need undercover footage… how do you think they hunted bears?
Living their life in nature before being killed is about as good as it gets for animals. I thought they were gonna say they’re caged from birth or something.
Besides a POV of “killing any animal is wrong”, I don’t really see an issue. It appears to be regulated and as long as they’re maintaining the bear population appropriately why is it any different than hunting deer or killing a cow for leather?
I think it would be a good thing if they moved away from real bear fur for an alternative, but don’t see it as a real issue either way tbh.
Nah, I’ve seen a shop locking their doors and letting people in one by one because they’re getting so much stuff stolen. I’ve never seen that before, and I see stuff being stolen right in front of me every other week now.
I’m willing to accept I’m seeing this happen a disproportionate number of times if the statistics don’t back it up, but it must be a local problem if it’s not effecting other parts of the country.
Also, maybe try being a little less condescending next time…
I dunno, I see a lot more shoplifting with my own two eyes, really seems like it’s increased over the past few years.
My local high street has loads of the little shops like Sainsury’s local, co-op, etc. 10 years I’ve been using these shops, and suddenly all of them have gotten security guards in a 6 month period.
It’s crazy to see people run in, grab all they can in their arms and then sprint out. They can get pretty violent with the staff as well.
Saying that most Brexit voters thought anything about an EEA arrangement is giving them too much credit imo.
Their thought process was as shallow as “we should be independent, get the foreigners out, save EU membership fees, then everything will be good”, with no thought about the reality of the situation and how it will be achieved.
A lot of them wanted hard Brexit just because negotiating a deal was taking too long, because in their minds it’s as simple as just leaving.
It’s become undeniable.
My mother was all in on Brexit, she started out fiercely declaring it’s what the country needed.
Then she said it’s going to benefit the country soon, then said it needs some time.
Then she said that everything going wrong was unrelated to Brexit. Then said its not that bad, and the eventual positives will balance out.
That’s the opinion shifting over the years. She now admits it was a mistake, “but how could we have known?!?”…

I don’t come to Lemmy to read articles, I come here to speculate wildly based on titles and make brash assumptions.
And the rest hide that they’re landlords by putting the houses under their partners name.
