I do self-host some services but it bugs me that a lot of articles that talk about costs do not factor in a lot of additional costs. Drives for NAS need replacement. Running NUCs means quite an energy draw compared to most ARM based SBCs.

I prefer GNOME to KDE and I understand that there’s research and philosophy behind some of the decisions, but I just can’t get around some of the quirks. “Workflow” itself is fine, with tiling on top, you can get by. But those window decorations. So much space is taken by a completely useless, fat bar at the top of each window even though it’s not really aimed at being touchscreen native.

Thank you. I can see your point and I agree. I only disagree with the argument that it isn’t a (sort of) DoS because JS is allowed to do it. I mean most actual DoS attacks are utilizing perfectly normal behaviors, but simply in abnormal volumes - which seems to be a point here.

I use Navidrome. Really well made clients for anything, ability to select transcoding method (or lack thereof) based on a client, changing of following songs etc.
