  • The conversation would be entirely different if they had attacked military targets and not civilians. A
Military base or political building and then suddenly they’re resistance fighters with a lot more backing.

But they attacked civilians at a festival and kidnaps multinational civilians who have no impact on the regions politics. That turned just about everyone against them.

I’ve yet to hear anyone defend hamas. I’ve heard people defending Palestine, which is where I am. But it’s more defending the innocents that aren’t involved than Hamas. I’ve heard people be anti Israel, but many of them don’t support Hamas either. And those who are ok with killing civilians because of their government are already pretty lost. I’ve also seen anti US since we’re involved and while I wish we just weren’t involved at all, or at least trying to negotiate a ceasefire, most of those people are just “USA bad, disagree without thinking” types. Overall though there has really been no defense of Hamas at all

  • Federal holiday for voting accomplishes nothing as company’s will gladly pay you a extra holiday to keep your vote silent.

Required day off to vote doesn’t work on its own. All medical staff can’t take off. Many industries can’t afford to cut staff to allow them to vote. We need multiple days to vote on and everyone needs to be given one of those days off paid. 3 voting days and everyone is required to have 1 paid day off during those days should be enough for every business to get their shit together and find coverage. We can operate as normal for those 3 days.

And finally, more voting locations. Any government building should be a viable voting location. Let me vote at my municipal building. It’s weird I need to go to a church to vote for a government official

  • Not autistic (I only found the post via m/all) but I am a dad of a 1 year old.

Cue’s are tough to read. Every time I think I’m getting them, they seem to change. My daughter starts throwing fits at random and I’m just lost running around trying to figure out Whats wrong and if it’s something she needs or if it’s just her not getting what she wants.

I also find I get nasty looks from other parents when I go to the park if my wife isn’t with me. I got the cops called on my for kidnapping my own daughter on more than 1 occasion. Dad’s can’t be dad’s in public when it’s just them and their children. The status quo means you shouldn’t know how to parent and should be at home falling apart the second a diaper needs changed because you just don’t know what to do. Anything else and something is wrong and the police need involved.

I have family with autism. I have friends with autism. I am sure that makes is more difficult. I have no doubts there. But I think being a single dad is adding more to the troubles than you think it is.
