But it always strikes me as someone trying to sound smart and failing. They think it’s a fancy way of conveying something it didn’t mean (though now it does because people used it so much without knowing what it meant).

I called this about 10 years ago when working in a call center during college.
I said, “In 10-15 years, this job will not exist. It will be done by AI.”
People disagreed with me. Said, “There are ways I can get a survey complete that you can’t program an AI to do.” And “People don’t want to talk to robots, they want to talk to real people.”
No, no one wants to talk to robots OR real people. They hate us. Also, anything you can do (at a call center job) a properly trained AI can do, and probably better. It was just a matter of time for machine learning and voice generation to get there.
I’m sure as this type of AR tech evolves that’s the kind of thing we’ll see. It’s pretty cool.
Apple Vision is not the game changer, it’s an expensive dev kit. The tech still needs to shrink quite a bit.

I don’t think he’ll recover. (In fact, apparently it is already being reported that he died. But even if he hasn’t yet he will.) He was taking deep lungfuls of flame and smoke to continue his chant. He’ll have destroyed his lungs. He knew going in that he wouldn’t come out of this alive.

Unfortunately the whole “isn’t a citizen” thing might work against him. IIRC courts have ruled the Bill of Rights applies to citizens, including freedom of the press.

At the risk of mansplaining, I suspect that actually was what they had in mind, though not exclusively. Friction doesn’t inherently mean PIV. Clitoral stimulation is still down to (the proper amount and application of) friction and (fuckloads of) nerve endings to sense it.
But more importantly, I also think that’s an overly simplistic way of seeing sexual gratification. Sex with a partner is sometimes less directly pleasurable, since the owner of the equipment often (though not always, thanks repression) knows best how to make it feel good, but sex with a partner is still usually better because of the intimacy that comes into play. And sex with a long-term partner can be exceptionally good, because you learn better and better what the other person needs.
(Obviously everyone is different though, and there are always going to be individuals with different experiences and preferences. The world is full of spectrums, not well-defined lines.)

I don’t assume they are perfect. But I do absolutely believe they are significantly better on privacy than any other major player in the smartphone space.
Even if you don’t pay any attention to their policies and programs, the mere fact that iPhones aren’t running an OS owned by an advertising company should be enough to demonstrate this.
