Look number one, whether or not she is xy has not been confirmed. It was reported by a Russian controlled organization only after she beat a Russian fighter, and they haven’t actually released their results or methods.
Second, what the posted article is referring to, if she was indeed xy (which is just suspect Russian heresay at this point), is androgen insensitivity syndrome. Meaning she wouldn’t be able to derive benefit from testosterone anyways. This is also different from trans individuals on a number of levels. Though Russia of course sees it as beneficial both for smearing anyone that beats their own athletes, as well as stoking popular lgbt hatred in their own country.
The only story here is Russia co opting international sports organizations for their own purposes once again, just like when they had state organized doping of their athletes that went all the way to the top involving the flipping FSB. Now they are also using it to try and spread fear and hate of trans individuals, even though it wouldn’t be trans in this case it would be intersex if what they said is true, and we have no actual confirmations that she is intersex anyway. I’ll believe it when an organization not controlled by Russia shows it (and even if they were correct it’s very likely she wouldn’t be deriving any advantages from it).
They’ve made similar unsubstantiated claims against another boxer. They still haven’t released any specifics of their testing, and they only made these claims after they claimed world championship titles in each case. What a coincidence.
I doubt either of them is actually xy. This Russian boxing organization was banned by the international community for good reason.
There’s nothing in the source you linked about Maduro releasing results online and some “hack” not allowing it. Maduro has not released any results.
The source you linked does report all the things I’ve said in my comment again though.
And it’s not just rhetoric, he is jailing his opposition.
The government did not release them, and you’ve provided no source for your claim. Also, showing up to a courthouse as they’re all rounded up and being thrown in a jail? Give me a break. Many countries are calling for the release of the results, including leftist governments like Colombia and Brazil.
Evidence was literally uploaded by the opposition, and has been analyzed by multiple news organizations already who agree with their conclusions. Not to mention the exit polls and other available public evidence.
https://ca.news.yahoo.com/masked-assailants-ransack-venezuela-opposition-134849213.html?guccounter=1
Here’s another organization that independently gathered many of the polling receipts with similar results:
The opposition leader is in hiding (who was barred by Maduro’s government for running, among many other tactics with government powers Maduro used to try to tilt the vote in his favor). Maduro has rounded up over 1000 members of the opposition already to try and prevent this data from being gathered and take more political prisoners. The Carter Center, who Maduro government themselves invited as a monitor, said that:
“Venezuela’s electoral process did not meet international standards of electoral integrity at any of its stages and violated numerous provisions of its own national laws.”
The only one fighting transparency and trying to hide results here is Maduro. These tallies were all stored on qr codes. Maduro could have released them at anytime and chose not to. Could have instantly been released the night of the election, as they were coming in if he wanted. Can’t believe people on here are still falling for this dictator’s bald faced lies.
Yes they’ve been compiling them here:
So all the authoritarian sympathizers in this thread who are falsely claiming that the opposition is making it up can look for themselves. Maduro could just release the full data set with all these polling station receipts anytime he wants too, but he continues to refuse. I wonder why…
While Maduro tries to imprison them all and prevent the release of any results, the opposition is working hard to compile all the results they can get their hands on online for anyone to see:
The only person that can’t be trusted here is Maduro.
Following the CNE’s announcement that Maduro won the election, the Venezuelan opposition has concentrated its efforts on digitizing and publishing on the internet the voting records showing that González won with nearly 70% of the votes, documents that the regime has so far been unable to produce.
Literally what the opposition is trying to do right now as Maduro hunts them across the country, trying to imprison them all or worse. Over 1,000 people from the opposition the regime Maduro has imprisoned. Meanwhile Maduro hasn’t released any documentation that backs up his ridiculous results, results that conflict with numerous independent exit polls that show a landslide victory for the opposition. The election monitors Maduro himself invited, the Carter Center, have widely condemned the election. Leftist leaders in Colombia and Brazil are condemning him.
The mission, led by the Carter Center, a pro-democracy organization, said late Tuesday that the election violated Venezuela’s own laws and the government’s failure to release a vote count was a “serious breach of electoral principles.”
Maduro has all the results immediately available to him and all the many recourses of an entire country’s government but won’t release. Meanwhile he’s busy hunting and jailing opposition members who are trying to go individually from polling station to polling station across the country to try and get copies of receipts while the government does everything in their power to prevent their release.
Boggles my mind anyone could try and defend Maduro.
Oh and if you want to see what the opposition has been able to publish online so far look here:
The only one trying to block transparency here is Maduro.
The Labor Party boycotted the vote and its members were not in attendance. The Arab parties voted against the measure.
Some more important context for people.
D&d also explicitly describes female trolls too. Female trolls are also described as larger and stronger than males. Here’s a happy troll family from a d&d source book, lol.
Again not saying you can’t enjoy something or use it in an rpg just because the person who wrote it may have problematic opinions or it might have some mixed history. Like I really enjoy Lovecraft, but holy crap is it a mess in terms of racist undertones because of the author.
I’m not really aware of that. Not to say troll couldn’t be used in a sexist way (“men are brutish trolls”). Even from the earliest myths of trolls I believe they could be either sex. There’s also nothing I’m aware of to suggest in d&d that trolls would all be represented as male.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergsrå
Trolls also are not a myth that comes from a matriarchal society directly used to opress men, unlike how the idea of hags and witches was used in a patriarchal society to opress women.
Just some examples, male doctors trying to eliminate female competition:
Women were far more likely to be accused of witchcraft. It was often used to persecute those who chose not to settle down with men or become housewives, or those who were running their own businesses:
https://www.cam.ac.uk/stories/witchcraft-work-women
There’s lots of sources and writings out there on the history of witchcraft and its relationship to misogyny. Especially in the middle ages, renaissance, and colonial America.
And at least in d&d hags are described as being exclusively female. Some creatures that might be problematic in some contexts like the succubus have added a male equivalent like the incubus. Hag is also still used as a sexist insult for older women.
Not the person you’re replying to, but one example is something like the “hag.” I mean I know it’s drawing from established folklore, but the original folklore and the word hag itself has some obvious sexist undertones that are carried forward.

Not saying they can’t be used in a game, but could be fun to turn it on its head or something and do some subversion of the trope. In general, always good to feel out your players comfort levels with various things beforehand and establish good ground rules before a game starts. Also giving players the opportunity to let a dungeon master know privately if something in the game is overly uncomfortable or alienating or making the game not enjoyable for them.
Whaaaaaaa??? But I thought Israel totally didn’t have any nuclear weapons
Oh gotcha, no worries! I was just kind of like whaaa?? when I read the comment at first.
It’s mostly been conservatives that have a problem with this, not progressives for the most part. I mean sure some progressives are against but they’re by far the minority.
I know progressives and democrats, and conservatives and Republicans, aren’t the same thing, but you get the picture. I think most on the left would prefer to stand up to authoritian genocidal governments, whereas many conservatives crazily see a lot they like in Russian government and want the US to embrace them.
Because this chart includes economic aid and it begins in 1946. America was giving some pretty massive economic aid to help with rebuilding after WW2. There’s very little military aid to the UK in the chart, it’s mostly economic.
Tried to force. That bill was blocked by Democrats in the senate and Biden issued a veto theat to it.
But your point still stands that Netanyahu in no way wants Biden to win this fall. He’s not coming to speak to congress and generally shit all over everything again to help Biden.
Heck, Trump admin people are already doing Nixon style foreign policy interference with Netanyahu ahead of the election.

Or doing it again rather.

Person above you either didn’t read the article they posted or is hoping other people won’t. Not that Al Jazeera doesn’t have its own biases and blind spots like any news source, but I don’t see anything incorrect in that article. They even put quotes around the word attack and then say only that Houthis claim they attacked them. It only mentions a sunk ship when it talks about the Houthi attacks on merchant vessels, which is true, they they sunk a Belize flagged ship containing fertilizer and fuel that was on its way from the UAE to Bulgaria.
France, Germany and the ECB worry about Russian retaliation targeting European assets, and also the potential impact on financial stability and the euro’s status as a reserve currency. There’s concern that depositors from emerging economies may be encouraged to pull money out of western banks, fragmenting the global financial system.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen downplayed such risks in February, arguing that “there are not alternatives to the dollar, euro, yen.” She said that if the G-7 acted together then the group would be representing half of the global economy and all of the currencies that really have the capacity at this point to serve as reserve currencies.
I agree with you, they should just be able to tap the assets directly. Basically some European countries are worried about the effects seizing assets could have on the Euro. Most of these assets are held in Europe as euros. The loan is actually an improvement over the original proposal though. Originally France Germany, etc were pushing only for the 3 billion in interest a year on the assets to be given to Ukraine. The loan solution was pushed by other countries who wanted to give them more cash from the Russian assets as a way to give $50 billion in cash immediately, with those yearly interest payments from Russian assets being used to pay off the loan.
That gas line goes right into Ukraine, they could have blown it up anytime they wanted safely in their own territory. So I’m not sure that makes much sense. They have not done this previously to avoid angering EU allies funding them, as some still rely on it.
I think more likely explanations are it helps make it easier to strike and and shut down a very important rail route for Russian re supply, it brings the war to the Russian people in a way they can’t ignore, makes Putin look weak, draws Russian troops away from other fronts, and if the land is held gives Ukraine a bargaining chip in any future negotiations with Russia.
