I am so disappointed with Israel and it has never been clearer they are not America’s ally. They just expect America to always be there for them and not only do nothing in return for America, but now they are actively undermining our international relationships and more election interference than China, Russia, and Iran combined (and I constantly roast them about it too). It has forever changed my perception of Israel.

They are both horrible war crimes and should be treated as such.

People understand the importance of the Malacca straight, Taiwan, and the various islands in that region. It’s the same reason Japan rapidly expanded into that region during WW2, bringing unimaginable suffering to the people in that region.

Maybe you aren’t making this point, and sorry if you aren’t, but that strategic interest does not give China the right to illegally sieze territory to suit itself. That is imperaliam. That is what Russia is doing in Ukraine and it is absolutely wrong.

Why does China not try to make allies in the region

Anyone who has experienced the horrors of the USSR or Russia knows appeasing them or sympathetic to nonsense like “why they invaded” as if their reason was anything beyond narcissistic theft, murder, and imperialism is either ignorant or malicious.

Please look into Soviet history, its involvement in genocide, its displacement of people, its alignment with the Nazis at the beginning of WW2, its subjevation and murder of millions of central and Eastern European countries. Normal decent people do not defend Russia.

Chinese people do compete for basic necessities though; stores aren’t passing out goods for free and rent/mortgages are very real.

Is there something you are familiar with that they don’t have to pay for? I suppose health care and public education, but that’s not particularly unique to China.

It’s technically in the best interest of its citizens, albeit at the expense of growing frustration from the rest of the world. Unfortunately frustration doesn’t really matter, only action does.

It’s crazy that China expects unrestricted trade with Europe and the United States when they’re propping up Russia who is murdering innocent Europeans, subverting democracy, and doing everything possible to unstabilize the world and create misery. Not to mention that foreign companies are granted no such equivalent market access in China, the intellectual property theft, and market manipulation by the CCP subsidizing everything from materials to shipping.

Can’t blame them for doing this - they’ll benefit from making more money and cripple domestic European and US competition, but it’s insane that Europe and the US sleep walks through it.
