I agree but if a freak winter storm comes in, you may have to flee south temporarily. That’s my point.

You’d be mistaken in thinking that everywhere will collapse at the same time. More than likely there are still “good” places to flee to. As the future collapse drags on they get fewer and fewer and less and less safe. But even just being “over there” is better than “here” in many cases.
Everyone should have something like that. In any emergency you can grab it and leave the house and be prepared.
Honestly, this brings me comfort. Now I know for sure those parasites are dead, and not just on an island after faking their deaths and will sleep better. :)
I have long since written myself off as likely dying in a fight over resources (food, clean water, medicine) with some yokel who still wouldn’t believe in climate change. And people act confused when I say I have no motivation at work or hope for the future. Wild shit.
It’s certainly interesting, but I feel mostly sad thinking that it’s just BAU for everyone, even when everything is dying. Such a great example of it.
If capitalism is allowed to continue it will render humanity extinct. If we collapse now, and are reduced to a fraction of our population this century, humanity may live.
I don’t enjoy that being the best option we have at this point. It brings me no joy. But what brings me less joy is knowing that we won’t even make a choice. We will continue blindly waddling along and as capitalism consumes the world, we will wonder who will save us. And no one will.
