There are lots of African nations who kill gays and other groups in the name of Christianity. I’m not certain on their policies in other religions, but regardless it isn’t good. So yeah, probably yesterday or today is your answer.

Probably never sadly. There’s always going to be something people go towards that gives their life meaning, and that will (almost by requirement) create a group that is against them. Even if it isn’t “religion” it’ll be something like politics or something else, which people don’t actually think about and just believe in.

Criticism is valid. Criticism against an entire group of people without also giving voice to those in the group against it is fomenting hatred, which you should be against if you’re logically consistent (which I’m not accusing you of being because I doubt you are).

It’s not the ideal solution, but it is approachable and understandable for technically averse users. I think it’s good to have, but I only used it for one package, and that was as a separate Steam install that included an old version of glibc that was used in a particular game’s (Squad) anti-cheat until it updated it.

It’s good for a stable platform, but each package needs it’s own set of everything, which can be good (like the Steam example above having its own version of glibc instead of using the shared version on my system), it’s a lot of bloat. I’m not using it unless I require it for some reason, but again it’s nice to have around.

Russia doesn’t care that you want peace. They don’t care how nice you are. They care if they’re going to lose. Putin wants power, and if he is going to lose that power he’ll stop this war. There are many ways to do this, but I’m not opposed to NATO troops helping out. If Russia brings in foreign troops, that’s more than enough justification for NATO to get more directly involved too.

We won’t have peace by asking nicely. We’ll have peace by ensuring an end to the invasion. If Russia wins then they’ll continue. Ukraine winning is the only outcome that can bring peace.

88 isn’t really the same thing, although, like you said, some people perfectly innocently use it, which is why it’s a dog whistle. 88 became a thing when Nazis had to hide they were Nazis. The swastika is not that obviously.

Why they dropped the symbol is likely because people were using it to say the Finnish government were Nazis, like th comment above implied. It’s an easy target for people like Russian apologists to say “we’re denazifying Finland” or whatever, while they do plenty of actual fascist shit.

Symbols are as useful as they’re interpreted. If they’re interpreted wrong then you should probably change them. It doesn’t mean we should allow people like the person above to imply anyone using them is a fascist. They should be countered and shown how stupid their arguments are. I have no idea why you’re defending them.

They used many symbols. Letting them be the owners of them gives them legitimacy. Why do we want people looking at old art, seeing a swastika, and then having the thought that the Nazis actually have a cultural association with that? They don’t. They appropriated cultures to give themselves legitimacy. Allowing this to continue furthers their goals. They don’t own the swastika, eagles, fasces, neo-classical architecture, appealing to Roman culture, or anything else. They stole it all, and continuing to let them own it is an issue.

It sucks that Nazis get to ruin cultures symbols who had no association with them. However, they prominently used eagles in their imagery, and somehow that isn’t ruined. Should every nation have to stop using eagles or be called Nazis? That’s stupid, right?

Also, they largely did stop using it after WWII, as the article mentions. It was still used it some emblems, flags, and decorations, but not as common. It’s still on the Finnish flag of the president, though it’s got different proportions and you’d look like a complete idiot for implying it’s a nazi symbol there.

The swastika is all over the world. It’s a very basic geometric symbol. It is no surprise it’s appealing. Go play Minecraft or something and make a symmetric design, and odds are you’ll make a swastika. I know playing Factorio I see it appear all the time. Nazis ruined a really cool perfectly innocent shape, and it’s honestly time we should try to recapture it.

It is a traditional swastika that has been in use in their culture for a long time. The nazi’s chose the symbol because it’s present in many cultures and they wanted to take it to give them legitimacy. There’s is rotated 45° though. The Finnish Air Force had been using it since 1918, before the Nazis. To imply a negative connection implies it’s a Nazi symbol, which it wasn’t. You’re being purposefully misleading (which isn’t unexpected sadly, and you’ve probably heard this from someone else misleading you), but you aren’t accurate.

If you notice, the one the Finnish Air Force had is the tradition rotation. It’d been in use since 1918, before the Nazis started most of their shit. It had nothing to do with them, and was a prominent symbol in their culture. Calling it a Nazi symbol is a lie, and it’s probably on purpose to be misleading.

There are plenty of people with swastikas fighting for Russia too. For example Dmitry Valerievich Utkin (Дмитрий Валерьевич Уткин).

Playing the “but they have Nazi supporters in their military” game can be played all day. It’s silly. Every military probably does. It turns out assholes love killing people and Nazis. They’ll probably join the military to get permission to kill people.

You can disagree with the law if you want, but breaking the law (sanctions) and being arrested is a legal arrest.

I have tons of issues with the US legal system, but I don’t pretend like everything I agree with is legal and everything I disagree with is illegal. That would be moronic.

I think they are lost of they think a federated platform can only have people who agree with them. When you make a choice to create software that’s federated, it’s not “yours” anymore, and people on the platform who disagree with you are just as much members as you are.

I don’t think they’re blind by seeing them invade a sovereign nation and wanted to damage them in return to try to prevent them from doing it again (again (again…)). I don’t think you understand what you’re saying if you think the sanctions are done blindly.

Arguably, all of them involving Israel were started by Israel. Colonists coming in and buying the farm, then refusing to hire the local non-jews who traditionally worked there, is going to provoke a response. They knew this, and it’s why they formed militias to attack them and use the response as justification to expand militarily. These militias were formed into the IDF when Israel officially became a nation.

Sure, you can also argue that buying up the land and not hiring the locals was “their right” but you can’t really complain when people lose their ability to survive because some foreigners come in and take away their jobs.

Israel has continued this policy of forcing a response from their neighbors and then using this as justification to use much more force to take more territory. Its not happening by accident. It’s a strategic move by Israel to provoke their neighbors, yet somehow people like you say the neighbors should have done nothing. Maybe Israel should do nothing. Who’s justified?

I just meant fewer larger pellets, which will have more force per pellet and they’d also go straighter through momentum. There’s also the option of flechette (little arrows), which I forgot about earlier. They’re not super common, but they do exist.

For sure regular buckshot isn’t what you’d want to use, but I don’t know if there’s a term for a custom shot designed to penetrate light armor on a person but still isn’t a slug. Kevlarshot? Slugs are probably what would be used for anti-personnel though, for the reason you mentioned. Birdshot would still be useful for anti-drone though, since they need to be lightly armored to fly more easily. If you force them to armor it then that costs payload. It definitely seems like something that should be being considered in this conflict.

I know the US uses shotguns for breaching, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they also carried some Birdshot with them in the future. I don’t know Ukraine already carries shotguns. I haven’t seen any so I don’t think they do.
