They‘ll just get removed anyway, but it‘s a funny and creative response.
What does the bot do?
Hoping it just removes every post.
It places the post into moderator-approval limbo. The post will then be approved in a timely fashion, once the mod on duty has had a chance to review it. The current estimated wait time for mod review and approval of the post in question is 2-3 weeks, but sometimes as much as 500. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
I don’t really get it. What’s happening here?
@sexy_peach @vaprz Malicious Compliance by answering a request to re-open a subreddit with the same business-y language, citing other empty phrases typically employed by corporate mods.
What’s happening here, reworded:
- Reddit: Reopen your sub.
- Mods: Oh, sure. But in order to ensure that no illegal content gets posted, we’ll need to develop new tools in compliance with Reddit API changes. That will take 4-6 weeks. Until then the community will remain private.
It’s also invoking the same strategy that Reddit themselves did with communicating the API change. They’ll provide more information in 4-6 weeks…immediately prior to announcing something uncompromising that flies in the face of the previous promises. :)
I love it. It’s so on brand.
