Isn’t that just migration?
The opposite of “immigration” is “emigration”.
- “migration” does not imply a direction.
- “immigration” means migration in.
- “emigration” means migration out.
This is a specific case where former immigrants are leaving in supposedly significant numbers.
“Canada’s surging illiteracy and ignorance fuels another Newspeak phrase for an already-named phenomenon.”
Did an AI write this? I hope so, because if a journalist did they should return their degree. They spelt “emigration” wrong.
Or maybe this is one of those Newspeak phrases like “new COVID” or “quiet quitting” for the gullible masses?
Found the person who didn’t read the article.
“Emigration” is used multiple times. The only time it’s referred to as “reverse immigration” is in the headline, presumably because an editor felt it was more punchy and eye catching.
