    Where I live, everyone is just barely scraping by. 15 households all pooling our resources for one internet utility account shared amongst us.

    People aren’t able to pay for any of the content the companies you mention want to charge for. It’s not even a choice. They’ll just go without or use alternatives.

    Or maybe thats just a bonus side effect of these monetization plans: keeping the poor out.

    Edit: actually there’s only 9 of us sharing the cost, with the whole block sharing the wifi…
